Kayser Platinum
In a fashion first, Platinum is pleased to announce the introduction of the Platinum Petite range of hosiery. Knowing that all women wish to have heavenly legs, regardless of their stature - Platinum Petite have been developed especially for women with petite figures, making shopping for hosiery a much easier task in the process.

The Platinum Petite range features three different styles of hosiery, offering three variations on these wardrobe essentials. In addition each pair of Platinum Petite are slightly scented, adding to the sensory impact of wearing hosiery, and heightening the enjoyment for the wearer.

The Bare Pantyhose features a super sheer 10 denier nude leg. This ultra fine, sheer product, gives legs a flawless finish looking as though the wearer has 'bare' legs. Combined with the mesh brief and sheer toe, this hose completes the barely there summery look.

Day One
Key Look: Alex Perry

“The inspiration behind this minimalist look was an angelic porcelain doll,” said make-up maestro Napoleon Perdis of the look he created for Alex Perry’s collection. “ These girls were to be flawless and embody complete perfection.” The result was polished, even skin, (rumoured to have taken up to five hours to perfect) complemented with strong elegant brows. “The look, while minimal and barely there, was crafted to reflect the perfection that is an Alex Perry creation,” said Perdis. Skin was primed, then evened out with Napoleon Perdis Cosmetics Minimal Makeup and Pro Palette Concealer, and set with translucent face powder. The bold brows were defined with Napoleon Perdis Cosmetics Eye Pencil in Suede and brushed upwards. Finally natural lips were polished with a hint of Napoleon Perdis Cosmetics Auto Pilot Lip Service gloss and fingernails tipped with deep brown Napoleon Perdis Cosmetics Chandelier Shine in Voodoo.

Pacific adds Kolotex to brand portfolio
PACIFIC Brands has added the Kolotex hosiery business from Kolotex Australia to its growing line of key brands giving it a powerful presence in the $150m hosiery market.
The company has paid an undisclosed amount for Kolotex's brands, assets, stock, plant and equipment.
Group general manager of Pacific Brands underwear and hosiery division Steve Audsley said the Koltex brand would be retained and marketed along with Pacific’s existing hosiery brand Kayser.
"Despite the centralisation of manufacturing and warehousing in Victoria, it is intended to retain a separate Kolotex brand identity and to operate Kolotex as a separate sales and marketing business in Sydney under the continued leadership of the current Kolotex general manager Geoff Columbus."
Audsley said brands were complementary, with strengths in different areas which will result in a strong product range.
"Consolidation of manufacturing for both brands at the Coolaroo site will ensure that the Australian hosiery industry remains competitive and is able to retain the current locally-made volumes in the face of minimal barriers to the entry of imports in an industry worth $150 million in retail sales," Audsley said.
The acquisition is effective from today, with a staged wind down of manufacturing and warehousing operations over the next two months.
MYER Spring/Summer Collections Launch featuring Leona Edmiston
MYER Spring/Summer Collections Launch
This week saw Martin Place transformed into a decadent beach setting, as MYER unveiled their new-season collections - and it seems Spring/Summer is only around the corner.
Guests were given a preview from an impressive list of talented Australian and international designers. The latest creations were unveiled by Alex Perry, Kate Sylvester, Toni Maticevski, Leona Edmiston, camilla & marc, Cacharel, Stella McCartney, and Nicola Finetti, to name a few.
It was a spectacular show - perfect to kcik off the Spring/Summer season! The Olympic Athletes - in their uniform of MYER-branded Speedos, whom certainly put a smile on many of the faces attending the event - dashed from the water on the man-made beach and ran laps for the duration of the show - only then to carry the models out of the water for the grand finale!

Kayser's new Platinum Range
WITH legs split in the air in a ‘victory’ position, some motorists see the model in the latest Kayser hosiery billboard as submissive, undignified and little different from a “blow-up doll”, but the advertiser sees her as successful, strong and confident.
The hosiery billboard, which shows a woman wearing a bra, suspenders and stockings and lying on her back with her legs in the air in a “V” position, is the latest in a string of outdoor billboards to come under fire this year, attracting a number of complaints from consumers.
However, the Advertising Standards Board, which met last week, has deemed the billboard inoffensive.
The ad, for Kayser’s new Platinum range of hosiery, “is celebrating a new direction in hosiery and shows a strong, confident woman,” Kayser brand manager Anna Burrett said.
“It is celebrating legs—the issue is relevance.”
Kayser received 10 complaints and the ASB received 13. One consumer said, “It portrays the woman as little more than a receptacle for someone to have sex with. She is expressionless and completely dehumanised—she may as well be an inflatable sex doll”.
Last week, the ASB dismissed the complaints, finding the ad did not breach the Advertiser Code of Ethics.
“While the board considered some people might be surprised by the outdoor advertisement, it determined that under prevailing community standards, the majority would not be offended,” an ASB statement said.
However Advertising Federation of Australia executive director Lesley Brydon said the approach of some advertisers appeared to be a deliberate effort to push the boundaries and portray women in undignified roles.
“The AFA has a code of ethics that says we should be responsible in the portrayal of all people and while this advertisement may not be a breach of the ASB standards, I believe that some advertising which depicts people in an undignified situation does breach the AFA code,” Brydon said.
“In the end I believe people will get tired of this kind of advertising. It certainly doesn’t help the image of the advertising industry.”
David Rouse, general manager of the billboard’s owner, Eye, said it had no problem publishing the ad saying that if an ad is legal, it leaves any ethical decisions up to the agency and advertiser.
However Cody outdoor sites rejected the ad—a spokesperson said it had the potential to draw complaints and it was too controversial.
“We have to be very careful with community sensitivities,” the spokesperson said.
The ad was created in-house by Kayser marketing manager Georgie Davies.

Going Steady - Kayser Fashion
When Manhattan Hosier Abraham Feinberg stitched himself into control of the fraying Julius Kayser & Co. a year ago, the company's once-famous line of medium-priced lingerie, gloves and stockings had about as much sex appeal as sackcloth. Board Chairman Feinberg set out to woo the hard-to-sell, fashion-conscious college and career girl, hired top designers to turn out fetching new trifles, e.g., red "mambo" panties. He also revamped Kayser advertising to emphasize girlish glamour instead of spinstership thrift: "Be Wiser—Buy Kayser," its longtime slogan, became "You Owe It To Your Audience." When Kayser's new-looking 1955 lingerie collection was shown last June, it drew the biggest crowd of department-store buyers in Kayser's history, spurred a 50% spurt in sales.

At the same time, Feinberg started reaching out for other well-known lines, e.g., Catalina swimwear (which claims to be the world's biggest swimsuit maker), Fruit of the Loom hosiery. Last week, still pulling itself up by the garters, Kayser agreed to pay $13 million for Milwaukee's thriving Holeproof Hosiery Co. (1954 net: $1,157,984), one of the biggest U.S. lingerie and stocking manufacturers. The merger, Kayser's sixth in one year, will make it the world's largest producer of lingerie, stockings and women's accessories. Solidly in the black, after six years in which sales plummeted from $27,500,000 to $19,400,000 (fiscal 1954 loss: $500,000), Kayser and subsidiaries expect to gross more than $45 million this year, up to $85 million in 1956.
Dressier casual socks sell - Kayser Hosiery
Finally, it's something new that looks to pull up sock sales at mass. Discounters have been the last to adopt the dressier trend in sportswear and, resultantly, socks, and experienced an overall down trend in hosiery sales- unlike the remainder of retail. Discounters' sales need padding-they dropped about 6.2 percent over the 12 months ending May 2002, according to NPD Group research.
"We anticipate solid incremental business as a result of styles for fall and next spring that really capitalizes on this dress casual trend," says Bert McDowell, director of marketing at Kayser-Roth, which manufactures such socks under the Farah label for Wal-Mart and Joe Boxer for Kmart.
Don't crash - Voodoo & Ambra Hosiery
TRAFFIC alert for the roads around the Punt Road silos, the risque billboard site that's exposed Jennifer Hawkins in her "Feeling Horny" Lovable lingerie (those insipid Kiwis banned her) and a dominatrix in Voodoo hosiery. We hear the next pulse-racing distraction will be unidentified bare bottoms in Ambra hosiery (the sort worn after-hours) from Friday. That's the first day of winter — those cheeks are going to be chilly.
